airheaded bumblefucks tend to dedicate a lot of time to trash and personal emails. most people don’t.

It probably depends on the individual work more than anything. I’d say mine has increased and decreased response time, which in turn has increased expectations. It’s a vicious circle sometimes.

I’d honestly say it slows people down from focusing on their work at hand. If they are constantly being interrupted while working, it breaks concentration.
When I was working full-time, I first would only check my email a few times a day. Then because everyone was expecting an instant response from emails, I left my client open all day. Then instead of just spending 10 minutes every few hours, it was a few minutes every 10-30 minutes.
While it does help with lots of stuff in businesses, because it can be such a distraction, like the Internet, I think it slows us down. Oh how I long for the days when we had to just sit and stare at our work until we got it done. Sure, there were distractions, but nothing like Slashdot, Email, blogs and aim.
